LEWISTON, ID- If you're looking to have fun in the mud, then you're in luck. The 7th annual LC Valley down and dirty mud run is set to begin tomorrow morning at community park.
"At its heart, it's an obstacle course race, but it's a particularly muddy and dirty one too. We have lots of pits that you have to get all the way wet in, and you come out covered in mud."
The 3 mile course has 18 different obstacles. If it sounds daunting to some, race director Jeff Marshall encourages anyone to participate in the event.
"It's not really a speed race, I say you can run it, jog it, walk it, stroll it, and crawl it," Marshall said.
"A lot of people, that's what they want to know, can I do that? Can I climb over this thing? Because it's scary, but you get up there and you get over it, and it's so exhilarating that I did this."
Not only is it an adrenaline rush, but its also a way to give back to the community. All proceeds go towards local non profits and charities in the LC Valley.
"Part of the theme to our event is to get you on your feet. Part of the theme to our donations is to get smaller profits and charities on their feet," Marshall said.
"This money is going to something that's going to touch a lot of lives, and that's what motivates us to it against the next year."
Another driving force of the mud run is the several volunteers that help make this course come to life.
"It's food for the soul, really. When I see our crew here, it's an all-volunteer crew, and this year we have great volunteers that are coming from other organizations to help, it fills my cup and it's absolutely amazing," Marshall said.
All participants receive a t-shirt and a free medal. If you'd like register for the race, it's not too late to sign up. Simply go to the LCV down and dirty website.
