PULLMAN, WA- The 19th ranked Washington State Cougars are coming off a historic win against the Arizona Wildcats. Now, they finish out the regular season with a three game homestand.
"Those are historical wins. Tommy has only lost three times down there, it's unbelievable and it's what it takes sometimes. A corner three with a fluky offensive rebound, but we've put ourselves in that position," said head coach Kyle Smith.
Coming off the Arizona road trip, the Pac-12 Conference awarded Rueben Chinyelu his first Pac-12 Freshman of the Week award.
The center recorded his first career double double 12 points and 11 rebounds against the Wildcats. Chinyelu is also just two blocks away from tying the WSU freshman single season record.
The attention now turns to an improving USC Trojans team. On the opposing side, the Cougs will see a familiar face. Former Cougar DJ Rodman will make his return to the Coliseum. It's his first time playing in Pullman since announcing his intent to transfer back in May.
"I'm sure it'll be emotional for him against his teammates, and a place that he lived for four years. He kind of established himself, it'll be weird and awkward for everyone a little bit. He's one of our own and we still look at him that way," Smith said.
