LEWISTON, ID- Olympic Gold Medalist and three time World Champion Dan O'Brien spoke at the 16th annual Breakfast for Kids event for the Boys and Girls club of the LC Valley.

Guests gathered at the All Saints Catholic Church in Lewiston, where they started serving breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Afterwards, O'Brien spoke about visualizing his path to Olympic gold in 1996.

He also talked about the obstacle he faced, where he failed to clear the pole vault, resulting in not qualifying for the 1992 Olympics.

He touched on what he learned from that moment, and how his mentors and coaches along the way helped him through that adversity.

After the event, he stuck around to take photos with young kids, stuck up conversations with high schoolers, and he even signed some autographs.

He gave some pointers to a younger track athlete on the shot put.

O'Brien brought his Olympic gold medal with him, and shared a very important message to the younger generation on what he's learned throughout his journey.

"In any walk of life, whether it be sports, academia, or business, you never do it alone," O'Brien said.

"You never find success by yourself. You need other people to help you and support you. "I think that's why it's important that we're all here today to support the Boys and Girls club, we know all the good they do in the LC Valley."
