LEWISTON, ID- The Golden Throne game kicked off in the P1FCU Activity center tonight with the girls basketball game up first. The student athletes spoke on the feelings they get when stepping onto the court.

"It's hard to even hear yourself think when you 're going through it. When somebody's trying to call a play or something, you just look at them and go "what did you just call?"

"It keeps everyone going, it keeps your adrenaline going, it's just a ton of fun listening to the crowd and seeing everyone supporting us."

"You can just feel the energy. When you step onto the court, everyone screaming it's the most fun game I've ever played in."

"I love seeing the whole school cheering for everyone and against each other it's so fun to see."

Practicing for the game is one thing, but actually playing in it is an experience unlike any other. Students are jumping up and down, cheering non stop throughout the game.

"We're just excited to play in front of a whole bunch of people, so it's one of things that we're excited to do it, that's the mentality we have."

"Just take it all on in, and realizing that you're not going to get this environment probably ever again. It's about having fun and not being too worried about who's all watching."

Golden throne may be nerve-wracking to compete in, but players have their own routines to get into the right headspace.

"Just sitting down and collecting my thoughts before the game, so when i get out there i don't think too much. I just know what i'm going to do before the game starts.

Students celebrate golden throne week by dressing up each day, and raising money for their respective charities. For the players, it's rewarding to play for something greater than basketball.

"Seeing everyone dressed up for themes and getting ready for Friday night it really just shows the anticipation for everyone."

"Having so much passion for this event that we do and something that I get to be apart of play a big role in is very fulfilling for me."
