LAPWAI, ID- Lapwai and Prairie met in the District Tournament for the 11th consecutive time. It was a total defensive effort from both teams. The Wildcats prevailed 39-27 to advance to the State tournament.
It was a packed house at Lewiston High School to support both Lapwai and Prairie. The Wildcats started out the game on an 8-0 run. The Pirates didn't score until late in the first quarter.
Shooting was also difficult to come by. Lapwai shot just 32.5 percent from the floor, while the Pirates shot just 12.2 percent. On the defensive end, the Wildcats forced 27 turnovers, and grabbed 10 steals. Madden Bisbee led the Wildcats in scoring with 12 points.
Once the buzzer sounded off, the crowd erupted in cheers. The players made sure to celebrate on the court as well.
Lapwai will head south to play in the 1A D1 State Tournament. It starts February 15th at Columbia High School in Nampa.
