LEWISTON, ID- The LC State men's and women's teams earned their way into the NAIA first and second rounds.
Both head coaches are ready for the challenges that lie ahead in the postseason.
The LC State men's late rally against Oregon Tech fell short in the CCC semifinals. Davian Brown had 18 points, while John Lustig scored 15 points.
However, their 22-8 overall record and 19 conference wins was just enough to earn them the 11 seed. They will travel to Butte, Montana to take on the 6 seed hope international.
"It's win or go home. We have to take every practice, every film session, all in and making sure we're not lazy or anything from here on out," Brown said.
"It's awesome, it's impressive and something these guys should feel good about. But at the same time, that's not the end goal. Here at LC State, we want to pursue a championship," said head coach Austin Johnson.
On the women's side, LC State will host the Lewiston pod as the number four seed.
The Warriors are coming off a narrow defeat to Southern Oregon in the conference championship game. Despite the loss, they earned the conference's second automatic bid to the national tournament.
They will take on the 13 seed Brewton-Parker college. Conference player of the year Callie Stevens and Coach Orlandi are ready for the opportunity on their home floor.
"As a player, I think it's a huge factor, we get our hometown fans. It's the court we practice on everyday, we know those rims and that floor," Stevens said.
"It's a huge advantage, it really is. Being at home, sleep in your own bed, eat your own food, all those things are important. Winning on the road is tough no matter what, so really fortunate to host these two rounds here, and Lewiston is a great place to do it," Orlandi said.
