LEWISTON, ID- LC State track and field runner Carter Gordon made history. He won the 800 meter in come from behind fashion, making it his first national title in his career.
"I wanted to lay down on the ground because I was so tired," Gordon said.
"That was the hardest I've ever pushed in a race probably ever. But all my friends were with me, they wouldn't let me sit down. That was fun, having them all there I got to see cooper, Connor, and London so that was nice to see."
"When he crossed the finish line, even then it was like I think he just won? But you just never know," said track and field head coach Mike Collins.
"I think it was exciting, it was a great feeling to have, great for him. In terms of nervousness, I don't think I was fully aware until his name popped up on the scoreboard."
Along with Gordon's national title, LC State also had 15 All-Americans at nationals. It's an all time high for a single championship.
