The owner of a Texas pizza parlor is convinced he's alive because of divine intervention.

Fernando Fuentez, the owner of Lily's Pizza in San Angelo, was opening the store on Sunday because a manager was off.

He opened the pizza oven to light the pilot and it exploded.

The oven sent a huge wave of flames at Fuentez, forcing him to the ground.

Now I know how life...in a split second, just getting out of bed," Fuentez said. "Just to come open the front door. That's all I was supposed to do. Just open the front door.

Fuentez said he felt the heat from the fire, but it happened so fast, that he didn't immediately know what happened.

He can be seen removing his shirt as he races to safety.

Fuentez suffered burns to the right side of his body, including his hand, and eyebrows.

I watched the video and it's terrifying," Fuentez said. "I thought there was more to it than what happened. I'm just counting my blessings. An angel was with me. God, Jesus, somebody, an angel was right there beside me and pushed me out of the way.

He says this has been a "life-changing" catastrophe and is working on new safety protocols to ensure this never happens again.

The cause is believed to be a gas bubble that can't be seen, heard or smelled.
