LEWISTON, ID- The boys basketball district tournament is down to it's final four teams in Lewiston.
The Potlatch Loggers are on of those teams. Junior Everett Lovell scored a team high 19 points in Monday's 56-40 win against the Kamiah Kubs.
The Loggers narrowly trailed in the first quarter. Then, they outscored the Kubs 18-7 in the second quarter to take the lead into halftime.
"It wasn't that good in the first quarter, but it all came together. We started working together instead of us as individuals," Lovell said.
The Loggers took control of the game in the third quarter. The total team effort has been key to the loggers success this whole season.
"I felt like doing well last year gave us a good jump start for this year, and then we've just really kept it going."
The junior himself has made a significant leap in his progression from last year to this year. He's more aware of his shot selection
"My decision making. Last year, I chose to do something before I got the opportunity to do it. This year, I'm taking what's given to me."
The 18-4 Loggers may move the ball well together during games, but it's their chemistry off the court that makes the team click.
"We know each other really well. We've known each other since third grade basketball and parks an rec. So, it's been a group my whole life."
Now, the Loggers have an opportunity to punch their ticket to state tonight against the Lapwai Wildcats.
"It'd mean a lot, it would just be amazing," Lovell said.
