LEWISTON, ID- Kamiah point guard Laney Landmark scored 16 points in their 55-42 win over the Troy Trojans. The Kubs are still alive in the district tournament, with a chance to make it to state.

Landmark has poured her blood, sweat, and tears onto the court.

Whether it's driving to the basket, playing stout defense, or feeding her teammates, Landmark brings a diverse skill set to the court.

"Last time that we played them, it was pretty sloppy,” Landmark said.

“But this time, we pulled it all together and played better on defense and worked way better as a team. We were a lot more aggressive and intense."

The senior plays with a certain intensity, even when she's not 100 percent healthy. She suffered a broken wrist about four weeks ago, and keeps a cast on it while playing.

"It's been pretty painful, but I feel like I'm motivated by everyone else. There's no other chance after this, this is my last year playing basketball ever, and I have to get surgery on it anyway," Landmark said.

The point guard has helped her team win 16 games this year, but the Kubs aren't stopping there. Their goal is to get to the state tournament.

"It would mean everything, especially with how hard this team has worked together. I wouldn't want to change who I've played with my whole life for anything. making it to state would be a cherry on top."

Landmark and the four other seniors are all best friends on and off the court.

In honor of National Girls and Women in Sports Day, she also points out another woman in her life that she's looked up to.

"Honestly, my mom has been a huge inspiration. She's super athletic, she's my volleyball coach, and has pushed me to work as hard as I can. Whatever I do, she tells me to work harder but is also encouraging through the whole thing."
