KENDRICK, ID- Kendrick girls basketball player Ruby Stewart celebrated senior day alongside her five other senior teammates.

To cap it all off, they beat St. John Bosco 78-19 to end their regular season at 18-3 overall.

Kendrick has gone all out for their seniors, showcasing countless team photos, memories, and individual basketballs. Stewart was gifted with a card, flowers, and pictures that she'll keep forever.

"We've all played together in all of our sports since elementary school, so it does mean a lot considering this is my last sport with them," Stewart said.

As Stewart walked onto the court with her family, her senior speech played in front of her coach and the Kendrick crowd. when writing it, she felt more emotions than just one.

"I was kind of happy but also sad, but it was mostly thanking the community, coaches, the other players who've been with us from the start and very beginning."

On top of highlighting the seniors, Kendrick also honored head coach Ron Ireland's last game of the regular season. He's been coaching at Kendrick for 35 years, and has impacted Stewart and many other student athletes.

"Ron has been my coach and my boss for a few years. He does mean a lot to me, I worked dry wall with him and have done basketball with him for a long time, so he's a big part of our lives."

The Tigers have won 18 games this year, are first place in the 1A D2 Idaho division, and have played together since elementary school. Stewart plays a pivotal role in their positive team chemistry and overall group effort.

"I think we get along really well. We've all played together for so long and there's a lot of bonding. I've played basketball with them since the third grade and we've had the same program."

"My goal is definitely to help in any way I can. if I can't shoot the three, then I'll drive or I'm going to chase every rebound."

The Tigers feel like they have unfinished business this season. As an older, experienced group their goal is to get back and win the state title.

"This is our last year. there's six seniors on our team, who've been here since our freshmen year. we were there our freshmen year and we lost it, and we feel like this is our year to be back in the state championship."
