Through March 17th, WSU students and other drivers can expect to see an increase of Washington State Patrol troopers on State Routes 26 and 195.
"Every year during spring break across the nation we see an influx in fatalities and serious injury collisions," Trooper Caleb Hudson said.
To prevent the worst from happening, troopers will be on the lookout for collision-causing violations.
"Speed, dangerous passing, driving while under the influence and use an electronic device while driving,” Trooper Hudson said.
Depending on the violations you could be let off with a warning or receive a ticket.
For those traveling longer distances, WSP Trooper Caleb Hudson wants to remind drivers to be prepared before leaving.
"Make sure you have a good spare tire in your vehicle before leaving and that you have the tools to change it, also check your fluids, your oil, make sure your vehicle is full of gas," Trooper Hudson said.
A small emergency kit with food, water, and warm clothing is also a good idea. As well as snow tires and tire chains in the case of winter conditions appearing.
